    Job Complete

Last week the excavators showed up to lay the new asphalt from the sewer dig.  They even dumped the excess gravel they removed from the street hole on to my driveway so now I'm not driving in pure mud after it rains.  Yesterday they showed up to complete the cement work from the sewer dig.  When they were done, they left the orange cones on the road and sidewalk and they even used yellow and black area marker ribbon to rope off the sidewalk.  That wasn't even enough to prevent a guy from stepping over the ribbon and walking on the new cement.  The cement was still wet enough for his shoes to leave a shallow imprint.  I sure wish they would have used concertina wire instead of that ribbon.  It is nice to finally have the work done.  Most of the grass seed I sowed has come up, too.

Monady, for Memorial Day, I played with the Heart of the Lakes and Battle Lake High School Band for Battle Lake's Memorial Ceremony.  They always have a good ceremony, just enough gets said before I get bored and it is always nice to have a student speak on some reaserch that he/she had done about why we have Memorial Day.  I topped the day off with planting all my store bought flower seeds and most of the ones I had saved from last years harvest.  Also, a good number of perennials that were part of last year's store bought seed mixtures did come up this spring.

Last thing, I have discovered that useing athletic tape wrapped a few times around the arches of both my feet keeps them from aching and swelling due to the metatarsals siding around too much.

Now I am ticked off.  MSN is offerring Live Writer Beta with spell check and other things.  SO I downloaded it but it didn't become part of my space - rats.

    Got r dun

May 3, 2007 I got my sewer replaced.  I wasn't able to get any other bid so I had to go with Ugastad's for $8,646.  HRA changed its loan system, again, so now al newl loans have to be paid back.  So I have 30 years to pay back my HRA loan and it is interest free and there is no payment schedule.  After the 30 years, I have 30 days to pay off the loan by whatever means and if I don't, then I get hit with an interest rate of 18%.  The way my sewer got replaced is in order to prevent my front entry way to my house from coming away from my house, the sewer started half way down from the toilet then took a turn out the west wall of the basement, then turned left to go down to meet up with the old line from where the plumbers cut it, then to the street.  The reason the new sewer has the old one connecting to it is so that the floor drain has some where to drain without having to use a sump pump.  The plumbers and escavators discovered that there are two sewer mains for my street, one running down the center and the other running underneath the yards across the street and my sewer was connected to the one across the street.  It would have been too expensive to dig up the street to reconnect to that sewer main so the plumbers tapped into the main sewer line running in the center of the street.  It only took one day to complete the job.  the sad part is that half the spot where I park my truck was dug up and when they filled the trench back in, it wasn't topped off with recycled asphalt.  I planted grass seed that evening and then it rained almost continuously for a couple of days.  The grass seed did not wash away but where I leave my truck, it turned into quite I rutty mess.  So I am now parking my truck in another spot and I smoothed out the ruts as best I could.  Now the next task is to get some recycled asphalt dumped on where I like to park my truck.  Last year, my lawn mower, Gordy, made mention of recycled asphalt so this year I will ask him if he deals with it since it might fall under the catagory of landscaping, which is his business.
